Zyxel Firewall [Reset procedure] - reset or reboot the device and LED light indication your VPN/USG/ATP/USGFLEX Series Firewall

If you cannot access the Zyxel Device by any method, try restarting it by turning the power off and then on again. If you still cannot access the Zyxel Device by any method or you forget the administrator password(s), you can reset the Zyxel Device to its factory-default settings. 

Resetting Zyxel Firewall

ATP100 / ATP100W / ATP200 / ATP500/ ATP700/ ATP800 USG FLEX 50 / USG FLEX 50W/ USG FLEX 100 USG FLEX 100W / USG FLEX 200 / USG FLEX 500 USG FLEX 700  VPN50 / VPN100 /VPN300 /VPN1000 USG20-VPN/ USG20W-VPN

Note: All configuration files, including those you saved on the Zyxel Device, will be deleted. 

Use the following procedure to reset the Zyxel Device to its factory-default settings. This overwrites the settings in the startup-config.conf file with the settings in the system-default.conf file. 

Note: This procedure removes the current configuration.

  • Make sure the PWR/SYS LED is on and not blinking. 
  • Press the RESET button and hold it until the PWR/SYS LED begins to blink. (This usually takes about 7 seconds.)
  • Release the RESET button and wait for the Zyxel Device to restart. 

You should be able to access the Zyxel Device using the default settings.

Router > apply /conf/system-default.conf

Restarting the Zyxel Device

If startup-config.conf has an error, the Zyxel Device may restart with an older configuration file or the factory default configuration file with all your configurations lost. 

Use Test in Maintenance > Firmware/File Manager > Configuration to make sure that startup-config.conf does not have an error.
