[SA] Zyxel Firewall H Series – Ports & Interface [Nebula 19.00 Release]

This article highlights the key differences introduced in the Zyxel H Series – Ports & Interface configuration between Cloud and Local GUI modes. It is intended to guide administrators on recent behavior and interface changes for both external and internal interfaces.

External Interface Configuration – Cloud vs. Local GUI

PPPoE

  • Cloud: PPPoE is selected as an Assignment Type.
  • Local GUI: PPPoE is created as a separate interface from the original external interface.

Connectivity Check

  • Cloud: Uses ICMP method by default. TCP method is not selectable.
  • If TCP is configured in the Local GUI, the Cloud displays “None

MTU (Maximum Transmission Unit)

  • Cloud: Requires the user to manually enter an MTU value.
  • Local GUI: Defaults to 1500 if MTU is left blank.

WAN Auto Rollback (Change to Different ISP)

  • Cloud: Does not offer the option to enable/disable WAN Auto Rollback.
  • Local GUI: Can disable WAN Auto Rollback to allow pre-configuration of WAN settings before deployment.

Internal Interface Configuration – Cloud vs. Local GUI

DHCP Server (Start IP)

  • Cloud: Does not adjust DHCP start IP based on subnet.
  • Local GUI: Automatically adjusts when /24 mask is selected.

Default Router Setting

  • Cloud: Leaving Default Router blank = “Interface IP” behavior.
  • Local GUI: Explicit “Interface IP” type available.

Static DHCP Table

  • Cloud: Creates static DHCP entries on the interface page.
  • Local GUI: Uses the DHCP Table page for static assignments.
