This article highlights the key differences introduced in the Zyxel H Series – Ports & Interface configuration between Cloud and Local GUI modes. It is intended to guide administrators on recent behavior and interface changes for both external and internal interfaces.
External Interface Configuration – Cloud vs. Local GUI
PPPoE
- Cloud: PPPoE is selected as an Assignment Type.
- Local GUI: PPPoE is created as a separate interface from the original external interface.
Connectivity Check
- Cloud: Uses ICMP method by default. TCP method is not selectable.
- If TCP is configured in the Local GUI, the Cloud displays “None
MTU (Maximum Transmission Unit)
- Cloud: Requires the user to manually enter an MTU value.
- Local GUI: Defaults to 1500 if MTU is left blank.
WAN Auto Rollback (Change to Different ISP)
- Cloud: Does not offer the option to enable/disable WAN Auto Rollback.
- Local GUI: Can disable WAN Auto Rollback to allow pre-configuration of WAN settings before deployment.
Internal Interface Configuration – Cloud vs. Local GUI
DHCP Server (Start IP)
- Cloud: Does not adjust DHCP start IP based on subnet.
- Local GUI: Automatically adjusts when /24 mask is selected.
Default Router Setting
- Cloud: Leaving Default Router blank = “Interface IP” behavior.
- Local GUI: Explicit “Interface IP” type available.
Static DHCP Table
- Cloud: Creates static DHCP entries on the interface page.
- Local GUI: Uses the DHCP Table page for static assignments.
