When plugging in a certain number of PoE Devices into a Zyxel PoE Switch, it could be that only a certain number of PoE Devices will boot up. This might be related to a certain setting on the configuration in the Switch.
There are two different PoE Modes available:
Classification: Max power will be reserved according to the priority level for each Port.
Consumpton: Max powerwill be distributed so each device receives power.
On factory defaulted configuration, the PoE Mode is set up to Classification.
In this case, devices connected to a port with a lower priority will not receive power when the max power is already reserved for the higher priorized ports.
With the Consumption Mode, each Port would get power. However it could be that certain devices won't receive their max PoE they can receive.
If you are using a GS2210-8HP or a similar switch and only a few ports provide PoE, or your connected PoE-devices will not start as expected please try these steps:
1. Log in to the unit by using its local IP address and credentials
2. Navigate to the Basic Setting > PoE Setup-menu
3. The PoE-Mode is set to classification by default. Change this to Consumption Mode and apply/save this configuration.
4. Reboot the system
