Zyxel LTE3316-M604 [WLAN Router] - Basic Setup and Troubleshooting

Before starting the operations, make the physical connections of your modem as follows. Make sure that the device (phone, tablet or computer) you will install is connected to your modem wired or wirelessly.

Quick Start Guide

Introduction to the Device

You can determine what is wrong with your device by looking at the front panel:

Login to Web GUI

Either connect your computer directly to one of the LAN ports of the LTE3316 or connect to the pre-configured WiFi (SSID and PSK are stated on the back of the device)

Login to the router default IP 192.168.1.1 using the default credentials admin/1234

You will find more details on basic device setup and setup with the wizard in the user manual.

Setup MAC filter

Go to Configuration > Network > Wireless LAN > MAC Filter

Set "MAC Address Filter" on "Enable" to activate the MAC filter. "Filter Action" defines for "Allow" to grant access or for "Deny" to block access to your WiFi, it is also known as whitelisting and blacklisting

You can set up to 32 MAC-addresses to allow OR block. It isn't possible to use both actions (allow and deny) at the same time!

WAN failover via Ethernet WAN

Go to Configuration > Network > WAN > WAN Management > WAN-2 > Action

Tick "Port 1 config as WAN port" and choose if you have a Dynamic IP, Static IP or a PPPoE connection.
If necessary enter the needed information in the fields below and click on "Apply".

Troubleshooting - Reset Device

Firstly, if you haven't done many changes to the configuration of the unit, I would start with a reset of the unit - by pressing and holding the button for 20 seconds:

This would reset the device to factory reset, where your WiFi and admin password will return to the factory default, which you can find under the device.

Troubleshooting - Enter Sim PIN

If you have a SIM card with a PIN code, you might need to insert it into the unit.

If you don't know if you have a PIN code, try inserting the SIM card into your mobile phone. If it doesn't ask for a PIN code, you don't have one.

Log in to the unit by connecting your computer to the WiFi of the LTE3316 and enter http://192.168.1.1 using your browser and use the username admin and password 1234:

Navigate to the B section to Configuration -> Network -> WAN -> PIN Management and enter the PIN code. If you don't want the device to require a PIN every time you restart the unit, set the PIN-code Request function to "Disable" and hit apply.

Troubleshooting - APN-settings

If you are still having problems after resetting the unit, you should manually enter the APN information of your SIM card into the device. You can find the APN information by calling your service provider (ISP).

Log in to the unit and go to configuration -> Network -> WAN -> WAN management -> Modify -> Dial Up-profile and choose "Manual"

When you click on manual, you will find the APN settings, which you can enter manually by inserting the information that your service provider can provide.

Try another sim-card

You can also try using another SIM card in the unit to see if the One you have is faulty. You can also insert the LTE SIM card into a mobile phone and see if you get a signal.

Troubleshooting - Firmware Upgrade

Upgrading firmware to the latest version could help with your issue because your device's software is not running the latest modifications.

Go to this website to download the latest firmware: Download library

Extract the zipped file you have downloaded with the built-in extractor of your operative system (or Winzip, 7-zip)

Log in to the Web GUI of the LTE3316 using this guide: Accessing your router via Web GUI

Go to Maintenance-> Firmware upgrade and then click on Browse... and choose the .bin file you have extracted

Click on upload and let the firmware be updated, this can take up to 3 minutes (DO NOT TURN OFF THE DEVICE).
