How are traffic priorities classified in the GS-108S / 105S?
The GS-108S / 105S is an unmanaged Gigabit Ethernet switch. These switches have priority ports that are designed for devices and applications that are sensitive to the quality of service. These can be voice, IP telephony, online games, streaming media (when transmitting audio and video over the network). At peak loads, these ports are serviced first. Priority ports are highlighted on the back of the device.
Traffic prioritization is carried out directly by the user when connecting network devices (computers, servers, IP phones, SMART TVs, etc.) to specific ports on the GS-108S / 105S switch. The switch itself does not verify TCP / UDP ports to ensure quality of service.
For example, a user first needs an IP phone and a computer to access the Internet; thus, it connects the IP phone to the port with the highest priority (green color of the port), the computer to the port with medium priority (yellow color of the port), and the network drive, printer and game console to the ports with low priority (gray port), because plans to use them rarely.
