We constantly want to improve our Cloud-based solution Nebula. We are happy to announce that a lot of our formerly standalone devices are now integrated in Nebula.
The NWA1123-ACv2 is one of these devices, and perhaps one of the most common devices to be used integrated into NebulaFlex-Mode. Since this Access-Point model seems to be quite successfully and often used, we want to share with you the steps needed to put your NWA1123AC-v2 into NebulaFlex Mode.
However, please note that this guide is remotely universal in setting up any kind of device into NebulaFlex mode, so this tutorial can be generally adapted to other NebulaFlex-devices.
- First, we need to ensure that the device has a firmware newer than v5.20 to be configurable as NebulaFlex devices. Other devices, such as WAC6103D-I among others, might need a v5.50 firmware, so best practice is to generally make sure, that your firmware is up-to-date to the latest available.
- If this is given, make sure that the device is registered and configurations are prepared via Nebula Cloud Platform (www.nebula.zyxel.com)
- The device on reboot with the correct firmware should first scan, if it is registered within the Nebula Cloud (accessibility to the internet is mandatory herefore, and best practice is to have a DHCP server with DNS of 188.8.131.52 (DNS server from Google) in place) - if yes, the device will directly go into Nebula-managed mode and apply configurations as defined within the cloud platform
- If for some reason the cloud is not reachable, the device will remain with the cloud configuration until you factory reset the device and have unregistered the device from Nebula - it will then move back to standalone.
