NXC Wireless LAN Controller [Captive Portal:] - How to Setup a Redirect on NXC or Access Point

In this article, we will take a look at how to set up a Captive Portal and redirect on the Controller or the Access Point.

For this we will need to meet the following requirements:

We need an NXC, a Zyxel PoE Switch, Zyxel PoE Access Point, a Mobile Client. We need to have already set up a guest account.

Topology

In this example, we will work with the Standard VLAN Setting.

Setting Up the Network

Go To:Configuration -> Network -> Interface -> VLAN

Choose a fixed IP Address in the Range of your Gateway (exp. 192.168.1.1 /24)

Please be advised that You have to Setup the Gateway (in this case 192.168.1.254 /24)

Setting Up the SSID:

Go To: Configuration -> Object -> AP Profile -> SSID -> SSID List -> Add

We choose a Name (cp_lab_test) and leave it on the default Security, which is “open.”

Setting Up the Captive Portal

Go To: Configuration -> Captive Portal -> Captive Portal

Now we activate the Captive Portal by clicking on: “Enable Captive Portal”

In the Second Step, we set the Logout IP: “6.6.6.6“

It is advisable to set the Logout IP to a local IP (exp. 10.1.1.10)

Setting Up the Redirect

Go To: Configuration -> Captive Portal -> Redirect on Controller

Click on:

add”
Source: “LAN_SUBNET”
Destination: “ANY”
Schedule: “NONE”
Authentication: “FORCE”
Login Page: “Controller_default”
Auth. Method: “default”

or 

Go To: Configuration -> Captive Portal -> Redirect on AP

We need to Setup the following:

1) Auth. Policy Rule

2) Auth. Policy Group

After that, click on: "Apply"
