[CXC] Got Mobile Coverage? ZoneDAS!

In this article, we will take a close Look at our ZoneDAS Solution using a close to Real World Scenario.

We will be covering the following topics:

What is ZoneDAS?

ZoneDAS is our unique, intelligent, and adaptive Solution for Your Cellular coverage in hard to reach Places!

Our Solution is a modular platform that is capable of transforming into the exact Solution You need!

To achieve this we use a Modulare Base Unit in conjunction with specially built receiving Modules, Donor- and Remote Units.

This allows our ZoneDAS to be extremely flexible and provide You with a reliable Cellular Connection to the World.

Let's take a closer Look at what this means:

This is our current Situation:

In our example, we took all measurements and determined that we would need Band 3 (LTE).

So we reached out and got ourself the following Setup:

We ordered the following (after alignment with the Support Engineers):

  • 1x ZoneDAS Base Unit (BU)
  • 1x Off Air Kit (OAK) and PoE Adapter [For Band 3]
  • 1x Off Air Adapter Module (OAM) [For Band 3]
  • 3x ZoneDAS Remote Units with Internal Service Antenna [For Band 3]
  • 1x ZoneDAS Remote Unit for external Service Antenna [For Band 3]

The following Equipment needs to be ordered from a Third Party:

  • Donor Antenna
  • External Service Antenna
  • Cat Cables
  • Coax Cables
  • Adapters
  • etc.

That's all very nice ... But what makes ZoneDAS so different from other DAS Systems?

Well ... first of all, it is an intelligent System.

What does this mean?

Let me demonstrate!

Here we have the Input Signal on the Donor Unit(s).

This Screen shows us exactly how much "original" Input Signal we have and the applied Gain to the Signal itself.

This Screen shows us exactly the Status of the Remote Unit. In this Case "2nd Floor Office".

All this information is used by the ZoneDAS Base Unit to Calculate exactly the Amount of Gain to be applied onto the Signal and the Amount of Output power on the RU, in order to achieve the perfect balance between Signal Coverage and Isolation*.

*(Isolation is the Amount of Signal Interference from our RU Signal into the "original" Signal on the Donor Unit.)

Furthermore, ZoneDAS is also highly extensible and can service larger areas when required.

Installing an Extender (Basically a ZoneDAS Base Unit with an extender Card instead of an OAM or BT Module) adds capacity for 1~8 additional RUs, further increasing maximum coverage by 20,000m2.

With a full complement of 8 Extenders (since a Base Unit can Support up to 8 Remote Units or Extenders), one ZoneDAS can connect up to 64 RUs for a total coverage area of 160,000m2— the area equivalent of 3 football fields!

(Please keep in mind that You cannot connect another Extender to a Unit that is already used as Extender!)

This could represent multiple floors in a high-rise office/residence, a large factory, or a large shopping center.
