In this article, we follow up on the earlier Series articles here:
- [CXC] Got Mobile Coverage? ZoneDAS!
- [CXC] ZoneDAS - How to determine cellular frequencies information
So we are still using our example Setup from the Customer Experience Center.
In the Previous Article, we stated that we found the need for Band 3, where we also added Band 20 for good measure.
We also determined that we want to use the Telefonica O² Frequency Range, specifically.
For this article, we will assume the following:
- The BU has been unpacked
- The OAM or RF Modules have been installed
- The Donor Antennas have been Setup
- The OAKs have been connected and are plugged into the DA
acronyms used:
- BU = Base Unit
- OAM = Off Air Module
- DA = Donor Antenna
- DU = Donor Unit
- RU = Remote Unit / Service Antenna
We will cover the following topics:
The first Login:
To set this up, we need to log in first.
To do so, we connect our PC to the Management Interface and set the following parameters.
IP Address | 192.168.1.2 |
Subnet Mask | 255.255.255.0 |
Then we open the Webbrowser and connect us with the following credentials:
Default Login Details
MGMT IP Address | http://192.168.1.1 |
Login | admin |
Password | 12345678 |
The Time Setup:
Next up, we need to configure the correct Time.
System -> Time Settings
We can either copy over the Time Settings of our PC, use an NTP Server, or set the Time manually.
Configuring the Cell Service:
To be able to use the Setup, we need to activate the System first.
Let me explain a little bit of what we see on the first Screen.
We have our RU connected (In this case, a RU with external Antennas), but it is not Mounted.
This can be seen by the blue "Mount" button on the left side and the grey "connection Wire".
By default, the Service Status on the right is grey (like the Auto Mount and System Calibration). If we click it, the Status switches to green and the PWR LEDs are starting to light up at the Modules.
Next, we need to "mount" the RU.
We have two ways of doing so:
- Manually
- Auto Mount Function
Since we want the RU to be Mounted automatically even after a reboot, we click the Auto Mount function on the Right Side and You should see the Link and LEDs changing to green.
The Service Setup:
Now we need to tell our BU what we want to do with all that Signal and which Frequency we want to use.
We do that by going to
Setting -> BU Settings
We already determined that we want to use the Frequency Range of Telefonica O².
So we searched the Internet for O²s Frequency on the BAND 3 + 20 and came up with this:
Band 3:
- Center Frequency: 1855MHz
- Bandwidth: 20MHz
Band 20:
- Center Frequency: 801MHz
- Bandwidth: 10MHz
You certainly have already seen that we put in different Values (as shown in the Screenshot), this has to do with the Following:
ZoneDAS uses the starting point of the Center Frequency calculated by the Bandwidth, this means in practical terms:
Starting Point for CF of 1855: 20MHz BW divided by 2 = 10MHz (Since 1855 is the "center" of the Frequency Range) -> 1855 - 10 = 1845MHz (Starting Point of Frequency Range)
After we set the Frequency, we click on apply and on the top right corner on Save.
The System will do an automatic System Calibration after each Frequency change.
Please note that this is not the Case if You add an RU or Extender.
In this case, please start the Calibration manually.
Now We have Correctly Set up the ZoneDAS and start using it!
