In this article, we want to take a look at the following Topics:
a) What it is
b) How this will be activated
c) How long License services can run
d) What happens if the license runs out? Will the feature still work and just the Signature not be updated?
What is the Grace period?
The Grace period is a certain amount of time allocated to each licensed service, and it consists of 15 Days.
How will the Grace period be activated?
The Grace period will be automatically activated as soon as the regular Licensing period runs out.
For example:
We have assigned and activated a 1 Year Gold Bundle to an ATP500 on 01.01.2022.
The runtime of the Bundle is 365 Days, so the last "regular" day will be 01.01.2023.
After that, the license will go into the Grace period of 15 Days, meaning we have an effective total runtime of "runtime UTM License + 15 Days".
How long can my licensed Service run?
As we established in the previous point, our effective runtime consists of two factors:
- "regular runtime" of the license
- 1 Month (60 Days)
- 1 Year (365 Days)
- 2 Years (730 Days)
- 4 Years (1460 Days)
- grace period (15 Days)
So we either have:
- 75 Days
- 380 Days
- 745 Days
- 1475 Days
What happens if the license runs out?
First, the license goes into the grace period; the license and the service will normally work during that time.
After the grace period has run out, it depends on the feature.
Security features that rely on Signature updates will still work, but there will no longer be any Signature Update.
E.g., Anti-Malware, etc
Features like Secure WiFi will stop working completely.
