In the latest release of Nebula, we made some changes to the Firmware Upgrades.
Let us explore this a bit further.
You might be seeing this message:
There are two new Options in the Firmware Upgrade overview ("Stable" and "Latest"):
Latest |
Most recent firmware release |
Stable |
Previous firmware release with no major issues |
General Availability |
A device using an official firmware release but not the Latest or Stable version |
Dedicated |
|
Beta |
The unofficial firmware version for hotfixes |
These 5 Firmware Types are mutually exclusive.
A "Stable" firmware cannot be a "Beta" firmware.
After each new firmware release, our developers will evaluate if the previous "Latest" qualifies as a new "Stable" version.
As for the Upgrade behaviour:
The behaviour is the same; it will only upgrade when you are not running the latest firmware on the device.
Hence, there won't be an upgrade the following Monday as the AP is already running the latest stable firmware (Since the Firmware type is set to "Stable").
Regarding scheduling the update, since this option is a one-time setting (you define a date/time), it will change to ignore if you have firmware type Stable because all the APs on the site are already running the latest stable firmware. So it's a way to tell you that you cannot do a schedule or the schedule configured will not take place as it's not needed.
If the firmware type is changed to the latest, it will allow you to save your schedule as there's a "latest" firmware available.
If the Gateway allows saving even in the "Stable" type should be because the gateway is not running the latest stable firmware "5.31(XXXX.0)" for ATP/USG FLEX series.
Due to the new changes, there will be no need for a grace period with firmware updates as the firmware types will cover those areas. The latest will update all the newest firmware, and stable will install the public releases, so there will be no need for a grace period.
