This article will show how to configure Multy M1 via the Web GUI if the mobile application is not working. This article will further explain how to use the Wizard to install your device, join myZyxelCloud, change password to Web GUI / and WiFi, how to troubleshoot Multy M1, if the device is not powering on, what the LED lights indicate, how to reset your device, change to bridge mode and how to configure WiFi settings.

1) Access the Device and Initial Setup
1.1 Start the device
Start the Multy M1 and wait for the device to Login to light up green.
1.2 Connect to the device - via WiFi or cable
Login to the device using the WiFi or cable. Please check this article on how to login to your device:
1.3 Connect your internet cable to the WAN port
Make sure the WAN port of the Multy M1 is directly connected to the internet (or via modem or router with Internet access). Your Multy M1 will check the status of your Internet connection the first time you log in.
1.4 Launch your Web Browser (e.g. Google Chrome, Firefox, Microsoft Edge)
Open your web browser and enter "http://zyxelwifi.com" or "http://zyxelwifi.net" or "http://192.168.212.1" as the website address while connected to the Multy M1's WiFi. If you're having problems, check this article.
1.5 Connected Successfully!
The following screen shows if you are connected to the Internet. Click Next to go to the next step in the
wizard. If you're not connected successfully click here.
1.6 Configure your WiFi
Configure your WiFi Name (SSID Name) and insert your WiFi password (it's recommended to use a strong password with 1 upper and lower-case letter, 1 number and one special sign with a password length of at least 12 characters)
1.7 WiFi Created!
Your WiFi is now configured and ready to be used
1.8 Join myZyxelCloud
Next step is to create an account on the myZyxel Cloud to manage multiple locations and Multy M1 devices as well as get push notifications to your mobile phone
1.8.1 Redirect to myZyxelCloud to create your account
Click on the "LOG IN" button to be redirected to the myZyxelCloud page where you can create your myZyxelCloud account.
1.8.2 Sign up to myZyxelCloud
Click on "Sign Up" to sign up using your email address, or use the Facebook, Google+ och Apple icons to sign up with these accounts instead.
1.9 Change password on the Web interface
After you have signed up successfully you are now prompted to change your password for the Web GUI interface. Change the Web GUI password (it's recommended to use a strong password with 1 upper and lower-case letter, 1 number and one special sign with a password length of at least 12 characters)
1.10 Firmware Upgrade
If the device is not yet firmware upgraded, it will upgrade the software firmware and you need to wait until it's finished. Then you can use your device!
2) Troubleshoot your Multy M1
2.1 Check your wan port
If the Multy is not connected to internet and you get the message "Please check your wan port is connected. If not, please connect it and retry again."
2.2 The device is not powering on
Please check your power cable thoroughly and otherwise, make sure that you have the ON/OFF Switch pressed in.
2.3 Check your LED lights
The LED lights is a good indicator of what is wrong with your device, if you're experiencing any problems. Please look at the table at LED lights (section 2.3.1) to see what the device is trying to communicate.
2.3.1 LED Light Indication
Look at the table below to see what the LED lights indicates:
|The device is recieving power and ready for use
|The device is booting up
|The device is not receiving power / needs to be turned on via the ON/OFF button
|The device is in extender mode is connecting to the primary Multy device
|The device is ready for use
|The device setup process is in progress. The device WAN/Wireless Web Configuration setup process is in progress
|The device is updating firmware
|The device is being reset
|The device in Multy Router mode failed to connect to the internet
|The device in extender mode canot connect to the primary Multy Router
|The device is setting up a WPS connection with another Multy Device
2.4 Reset the device
If you have any device that cannot be solved using any other tip in this article, it's highly recommended you reset your device(s) to factory settings and start all over again. This is usually the solution to 90% of the problems.
2.5 Configure Ethernet Backhaul [Mesh] (instead of WiFi Mesh)
You want to connect your Multy M1 via the Ethernet Backhaul in some cases.
To Use the Ethernet Backhaul, please follow the below steps.
1) Please connect the Lan1 port of the two devices on the same Ethernet cable.
It does not need a reboot. After connecting, please wait for 2~3minutes and then log in to the web GUI or the multy app to check the status of the backhaul.
2) To check if it is connected with the ethernet cable, you can go to the GUI and click the left panel > Mesh > satellite > check the backhaul status
It will show nothing when it is connected with the ethernet backhaul.
3) Configure your Multy M1 (after installation)
3.1 Configure Bridge mode
If you're seeing this screen after you've logged in, it means that you're having standard mode and not bridge mode.
3.1.1 Changing to Bridge mode
Navigate to Settings (up at the left side of the screen) -> System -> Operating mode to change your Multy M1 mode from Standard mode to Bridge mode by marking Bridge mode by clicking on the empty circle and then click "Apply".
Wait for the device to save your configuration and look at the LED lights to see when it's ready again
When you login to the device you should see this screen now.
3.2 The Mesh Health of your Multy M1
Navigate to Settings -> Mesh Information to check the Backhaul (Connectivity) of your both Mesh systems if you're experiencing slow WiFi or disconnections on your Extender Multy
3.3 Configure your WiFi Settings
To configure your WiFi settings please navigate to Settings (up at the left side of the screen) -> WiFi and Main WiFi.
Best practice here is to choose
- the WPA2-PSK with a strong password (meaning that you use a strong password with 1 upper and lower-case letter, 1 number and one special sign with a password length of at least 12 characters)
- Use 2.4 Channel Bandwidth of 40 (use 20 [MHz] Bandwidth on 2,4G [GHz] if you're experiencing WiFi issues, and 40 [MHz] bandwidth on 5G [GHz])
- Enable MU-MIMO on both Down link and Up Link
