Summary of Differences

  • NWA50BE PRO → best for home offices and small businesses: fast WiFi 7, simple management, basic security.

  • NWA90BE PRO → best for SMBs and public networks: same performance but adds enterprise authentication (802.1X / RADIUS), captive portal for guest WiFi, and extended encryption options (including WPA3-Enterprise).

Everything else — hardware, radios, CPU, Smart Mesh MLO, management options, size, power, etc. — is identical between the two models.

Quick Setup Guide

Initial Configuration

Two management modes are available: How to Register an Zyxel AP to Nebula

🔹 Nebula Cloud Mode

  1. Download the Nebula Mobile App (iOS/Android).

  2. Add the device by scanning the QR code (on the unit or in QSG).

  3. The AP auto-registers to Nebula Cloud, accessible from anywhere.

Option 1: Registration with the App Option 2: Registration with the Web

🔹 Standalone Mode

  1. Connect a client to the AP’s default SSID (printed on the device).

  2. Open http://setup.zyxel or the device’s IP address.

  3. Login with default credentials (found in QSG).

  4. Configure SSID, WPA/WPA3 passphrase, VLANs, and other options.

Logging into the Web GUI (Standalone Mode)

Both the NWA50BE PRO and NWA90BE PRO can be managed directly via their built-in Web GUI if you choose to run them in Standalone mode (without Nebula Cloud). This is useful for local configuration, lab testing, or environments where cloud management is not required.

For the NWA50BE PRO and NWA90BE PRO, the factory default password for the first login to the web interface (Standalone mode) is printed on the sticker located on the back of the device.

The next step will ask you to change the default password, this action is mandatory.

After changing the default password and re-logging in with the new credentials, the setup wizard will launch. For a basic configuration, you simply need to follow 5 straightforward steps.

Quick Setup Wizard — Step by Step

After changing the default admin password and logging in again, the Setup Wizard will guide you through 5 steps:

Step 1 – Time Settings

  • Select your Country and Time Zone.

  • Optionally enable Daylight Saving Time (DST) and configure start/end rules.

Step 2 – Uplink Connection

  • Choose how the AP gets its management IP:

    • Auto (DHCP) — recommended for most networks.

    • Static IP — if your network requires fixed addressing.

Step 3 – SSID and Security

  • Configure your wireless network name (SSID).

  • Select which bands to use (2.4 / 5 / 6 GHz).

  • Choose security type: WPA3-Personal (recommended), WPA2, or WPA3-Enterprise (on NWA90BE PRO).

  • Set your WiFi password (Pre-Shared Key).

Step 4 – Radio Settings

  • Adjust channel width and output power for each band:

    • 2.4 GHz: usually 20 MHz channels.

    • 5 GHz / 6 GHz: 80–160 MHz for maximum WiFi 7 performance.

  • Leave Channel Selection on Auto unless manual tuning is required.

Step 5 – Summary and Apply

  • Review all your settings: country, time zone, SSID, security, channels.

  • If everything looks correct, click Save.

  • The AP will apply the configuration and your WiFi network is ready.

Final Step — Configuration Applied

Once the wizard is completed:

  • The AP will use the new IP address (via DHCP or static, depending on your choice).

  • The default Zyxel SSID (Zyxel_xxxx) is removed.

  • Connect to the new SSID that you configured in Step 3 to start using your WiFi network.
