Firewall USG/ATP/VPN - How to add/join a device in Active Directories

Adding a device to a domain brings a range of benefits that enhance network management, security, and user experience. In essence, adding your Zyxel device to an Active Directory Domain elevates your network infrastructure to a new level of efficiency and security.

To add your device to the domain, follow these steps:

  • Log in to the Web GUI of your device

Go to CONFIGURATION > System > Host name
  • Specify the device name and domain name and press "Apply" (In the following example, the domain name is usg.com and the name of the device is usgflex100w)

  • The next step is to add a PTR Record
Go to CONFIGURATION > Object > AAA Server

  • Double-click on the "ad" object and fill in the required fields under "Server Settings" and "Domain Authentication for MSChap". Specify the address and name of the domain server

  • If all data is correct and the user has permission to add devices to the domain, you should see your firewall in one of the AD containers
