Backing up the configuration of Zyxel switches plays a key role in ensuring the security and manageability of your network infrastructure. Here are a few reasons why it is essential:

Disaster recovery: Backup allows you to quickly restore the switch to service in the event of a failure or abnormal situation. If a failure occurs or the device loses its configuration, a backup will allow you to quickly restore the settings.

Updates and Configuration Changes: Before upgrading software (firmware) or making configuration changes, a configuration backup allows you to maintain the operational state of the device. In case of a failed update or unexpected problems after changes, you can quickly revert to the previous stable configuration.

Version control: Backups allow you to save multiple versions of a configuration. This is useful for tracking changes and reverting to previous versions if new configurations have caused problems or undesirable results.

Data Security: The switch configuration can contain important network infrastructure information such as security settings, VLANs, routing, etc. Backup protects this information from loss or corruption.

Simplify device migration and replacement: When replacing a switch with a new device or migrating to a different infrastructure, backup allows you to quickly configure the new device with the same settings as the old device.
