Zyxel Nebula now uses clearer firmware status labels to help users understand whether their device is up to date or needs an upgrade. The updated interface differentiates between Stable and Latest firmware versions and provides straightforward messages showing when an update is recommended or required.
Firmware Types in Nebula: Stable vs. Latest
Nebula continues to use two firmware categories, which appear in different parts of the interface.
| Stable Firmware | Latest Firmware |
Stable means the device is running a tested and recommended version of firmware. This appears as:
Stable does not always mean that the device has the newest version — only that it is on a reliable release. | You will see “Latest” when:
Examples of where “Latest” appears:
|
| Up to date (Stable) | Upgrade available | Not up to date |
This means:
| Nebula found a newer firmware version. You can:
| The device has configuration changes that are not yet applied. This status simply means Nebula cannot apply your settings yet. |
Status messages include:
Up to date – No action needed
Not up to date – Configuration changes are pending
Not up to date, requires upgrade to the latest firmware – Your device needs the newest version available
Not up to date, requires upgrade to the latest firmware
This is an important new status.
It means:
Nebula cannot apply your settings unless the device updates to the Latest firmware.
Some features require the newest version to work.
You will also see a blue info icon with a message like:
“One or more new features require the latest firmware. You can upgrade now…”
When you hover over the information icon (i-Note), a message appears with a link to the Upgrade Now window.
This pop-up allows you to upgrade directly to the required firmware version.
