How to Transfer an Add-On License by Yourself

An add-on license is a supplementary license purchased separately from the base device or bundled package. Unlike bundled licenses, add-on licenses can be transferred by the device owner through the Zyxel web portal.

This article outlines the step-by-step procedure for transferring an add-on license and important considerations to ensure a successful operation.

Important Restrictions and Notes

Note: Nebula Pro Pack licenses can be transferred between devices through the Nebula portal, regardless of the device type. 

Although the transfer process is straightforward, there are key limitations to be aware of:

• License, not individual service:
  The transfer applies to the license as a whole, not to individual services within that license.

• Model compatibility:
  A license may only be transferred to a device of the same model. Attempts to transfer to an incompatible model will not succeed.

• Add-on licenses only:
  Only add-on licenses are eligible for self-service transfer. Bundle licenses (preloaded or package licenses) cannot be transferred via this method.

Step-by-Step License Transfer Process

Log in to Zyxel.com
Use the credentials associated with your Zyxel account to sign in.

Navigate to My Devices
In the dashboard, locate the device that currently holds the license you want to transfer. Devices are listed by MAC address, enabling precise selection.

Open Linked Services
Once you’ve selected the device, access the Linked Services section to view all add-on services tied to that device.

Select the License
Identify the specific service you intend to transfer and click Details next to it.

Initiate the Transfer
Click the Transfer button. A pop-up will appear prompting you to select the target device — choose the destination device by its MAC address.

Confirm Completion
When the transfer finalizes successfully, you will see a confirmation message:
“Service has transferred to new product successfully.”
