Zyxel FWA Series [Nebula] - Add Mobile Router FWA Series to Nebula

Zyxel’s FWA505, FWA510, and FWA710 are modern mobile routers designed for high-speed broadband over 4G/5G networks. These devices now integrate with the Nebula cloud management platform, offering partial feature support. This article outlines the currently supported functions and how to register these models in Nebula.

Supported Models:

Available Features in Nebula:

Zyxel FWA series mobile routers (LTE / 5G NR) support basic monitoring and limited configuration via the Nebula Control Center (NCC). Below is an overview of the available features in Nebula for these devices.

Device Inventory & Basic Configuration

  • Display of the mobile router under the site's device list
  • Editable fields:
    • Device name
    • MAC address
    • Serial number
    • Description, tags, and installation address
  • Ability to move the device to a different site within the organisation

⚠️ Only one mobile router is supported per Nebula site.

LAN & DHCP Configuration

Available for indoor models only:

  • Useful for refreshing the connection or recovering from instability

Remote Firmware Management

  • Check and install firmware updates via the cloud
  • Configure firmware policies through Nebula

Limitations and Licensing

  • Some features, such as advanced monitoring, reporting, and alerts, may require the Nebula Professional Pack license.
  • WiFi and firewall settings are not configurable via Nebula – these must be managed locally through the device’s web interface.

How to Add FWA Series Device to Nebula:

Before adding a device to Nebula, ensure that Nebula cloud management is enabled in the local web GUI (If you prefer not to register the device to Nebula - or want to prevent accidental registration (e.g., via QR code, which could allow the device to be linked to another account) - it is recommended to disable this feature in the local interface.)

Adding your Zyxel FWA mobile router to the Nebula cloud platform is quick and easy, with two simple methods to choose from:

Add FWA Series Device to Nebula Using the Nebula Mobile App (QR Code Method)

The fastest way to onboard your FWA router is through the Nebula mobile app. Simply open the app and scan the QR code found on the sticker attached to the device. This automatically registers the router to your Nebula organisation and site, making setup seamless and efficient.

Manual Entry FWA Series Device to Nebula

Alternatively, you can manually add the device by logging into the Nebula Control Center. Navigate to the device registration section and enter the router’s serial number and MAC address, both found on the device label.

Both methods quickly connect your Zyxel FWA router to Nebula, enabling centralized cloud management, monitoring, and configuration from anywhere.

  1. Log in to the Nebula Control Center (NCC).
  2. Go to Organization-wide > Configure > License & inventory.
  3. Click Add and enter the MAC address and serial number of your FWA device.

4. Assign the device to a site within your Site.

5. Once connected to the internet, the device will appear online in Nebula.
