Mobile Router into Nebula - Hardware and Software Identification (LTE3301-Plus / NR5101 / NR7101)

This article helps you fix the problem when your Nebula device was updated with firmware for a non-Nebula model and can’t connect to Nebula Cloud anymore. It shows how to check if your router is a Nebula or non-Nebula version and explains which firmware you need to install to restore the connection.

Issue
If a Nebula-capable device (e.g., LTE3301-PLUS) is accidentally flashed with “generic” firmware, it will no longer connect to the Nebula Cloud.

Nebula Supported devices:

Device Name Product Number
Nebula LTE3301-Plus LTE3301-PLUS-EUZNN1F
Nebula NR5101  NR5101-EUZNN1F
Nebula NR7101  NR7101-EUZNN1F

Solution

  1. Verify that your device is indeed a supported Nebula model (LTE3301-Plus, NR5101, NR7101).

  2. Download the correct Nebula firmware (for example, LTE3301-Plus — version 1.00 (ACCA.0)C0).

  3. In the web interface, go to Maintenance → Firmware Upgrade, select the firmware file, and click Upload.

  4. After the reboot, the device should display the correct firmware version and be discoverable in Nebula.

If the device still doesn’t appear in Nebula after the update, follow the instructions for adding a mobile router to the NCC.

This article is divided into two sections on how to check your device:

Hardware Variant

Each mobile router model comes with two possible variants:

Nebula Hardware Variant – can add hardware to the NCC organisation.

Generic Hardware Variant – cannot add hardware to NCC organization

If you don't have the Indicators mentioned above on the Box / Hardware, the device is not supported to integrate into the Nebula Cloud.

Software Variant

Each mobile router model can upgrade to its generic or nebula firmware version.

There is no possibility to update a non-Nebula device to a Nebula device via firmware update.

Nebula Software Variant – supports NCC discovery.

Generic Software Variant – does not support NCC discovery

For generic devices, you see the firmware version in the release notes :
