Zyxel Product Lifecycle, Warranty and End-of-Life (EOL) Concepts

Throughout the lifecycle of every Zyxel product, several lifecycle milestones define the level of development, maintenance, security updates, technical support, licensing, and warranty coverage available.

Understanding these milestones helps customers plan product maintenance, software upgrades, license renewals, and migration to newer platforms before support reaches its end.

For products that reached End of Life more than three years ago, please refer to the archived End-of-Life product list. Current lifecycle information and recommended replacement models are available on the Zyxel End-of-Life portal here.

End of Development (EOD)

The End of Development milestone indicates that active feature development has concluded.

After this date:

  • no new features or functional enhancements will be introduced;
  • feature requests will no longer be implemented;
  • development efforts are limited to resolving critical issues that significantly impact business operations or overall system stability.
  • Products remain fully supported during this stage according to the applicable support policy. Functionality is maintained.

End of Vulnerability Support (EOVS)

The End of Vulnerability Support milestone defines the end of Zyxel's commitment to provide security vulnerability remediation for the product.

Before this date, Zyxel may release maintenance firmware addressing critical security vulnerabilities requiring immediate attention.

After this milestone:

  • newly discovered security vulnerabilities are no longer scheduled for remediation;
  • maintenance firmware addressing future security issues is generally no longer released.

Customers are strongly encouraged to migrate to supported products before this milestone whenever possible to maintain an appropriate security posture.

End of Life (EOL)

End of Life (EOL) represents the final stage of the product lifecycle.

After a product reaches End of Life, the availability of the following services and updates may vary and, in some cases, may be limited depending on the product, device model, or region:

  • hardware support;
  • firmware development;
  • firmware updates;
  • signature updates (where applicable);
  • software maintenance and future improvements.

Because new firmware releases and security fixes are no longer guaranteed after EOL, Zyxel recommends planning a migration to currently supported products before this milestone is reached.

Note: Return Merchandise Authorization (RMA) policies may vary depending on the region. Please contact your local Zyxel representative for regional RMA information.

License End of Registration

For products using subscription licenses or cloud services, Zyxel defines a License End of Registration milestone.

After this date:

  • new licenses can no longer be registered;
  • new license activation is no longer available through myZyxel or Nebula.

Customers should complete all required license registrations before this date.

Previously activated licenses continue according to their purchased subscription period.

License End of Life

License End of Life represents the final stage of the software subscription lifecycle.

After this milestone:

  • license renewals are no longer available;
  • associated firmware support ends where applicable;
  • signature update services cease;
  • the license is no longer supported.

Customers should migrate to currently supported licensing models before License End of Life is reached.

Warranty Information

Warranty coverage is determined by the product warranty policy applicable to the specific product family and region.

Depending on the product, Zyxel may provide ( Products and Warranties):

  • Standard Limited Warranty
  • Limited Lifetime Warranty

Warranty eligibility, replacement conditions, and coverage periods are defined by the official Zyxel Warranty Policy.

For products covered by a Limited Lifetime Warranty, warranty support continues according to the warranty terms published by Zyxel, including any applicable End-of-Life support period defined for that product category.

Migration Recommendations

When a product approaches End of Development, End of Vulnerability Support, or End of Life, Zyxel recommends planning migration to a currently supported platform.

Migration provides:

  • continued firmware maintenance;
  • ongoing security vulnerability protection;
  • access to the latest software features;
  • continued technical support;
  • compatibility with current licensing and cloud services.

Where available, recommended replacement products are listed in the official End-of-Life database.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can I continue using my product after End of Life?

Yes.

However, Zyxel no longer provides firmware updates, security fixes, technical support, or signature updates after the product reaches End of Life. Continued operation is therefore at the customer's own discretion and risk.

Will my activated license stop working after License End of Registration?

No.

License End of Registration prevents the registration of new licenses. Existing activated licenses remain valid until their purchased subscription period expires.

Why should I migrate before End of Life?

Migrating before End of Life ensures continued access to firmware updates, security maintenance, technical support, and current hardware platforms while reducing operational and cybersecurity risks.
