Welcome to the Quick Start Guide for the Zyxel VMG4005-B50A! This guide will help you get your device up and running in no time. Follow the steps below to ensure a smooth and easy installation.
The Zyxel VMG4005-B50A is a VDSL2 17a Bonding and 35b Single Line Bridge is a VDSL bonding bridge that provides excellent premium-class line speeds of up to 200Mbps with 17a bonding or 300Mbps with 35b single line for broadband services to extend the coverage and performance for enhanced user experience.
This model is capable of pair bonding, so physically use 2 separate Lines and aggregate them as 1 line. So the inner pins 2 + 3 are for Phone line 1 And the outer pins 1 + 4 are for Phone line 2 |
Note: The VMG4005-B50B was designed specifically for an Internet Service Provider to be used by their customers. If your device was supplied by your Internet Service Provider (ISP) and you have additional questions or problems with your device, please contact your ISP first and only then contact your local Zyxel Support for additional support.
Unboxing and Checking the Contents
Before you begin, make sure you have all the components:
- Zyxel VMG4005-B50A Device
- Power Adapter
- Ethernet Cable
- DSL splitter or telephone wall outlet

Understanding the Device
Front Panel Indicators:
- Power LED: Indicates the device's power status.
- DSL LED: Shows the carrier signal.
- Ethernet LED: Indicates the status of the Ethernet connection.
Quick Start
- Use a phone cable to connect the DSL port to a DS splitter or directly to the telephone wall outlet.
- Connect a computer or Access Point to the LAN port using an Ethernet cable.
- Use the included power adapter to connect the power socket to an appropriate power source.
- Press the POWER button to turn on the VMG4005.
- Check that the LED lights are already on.
Accessing the Web Configurator
1. Make sure your computer has an IP address in the same subnet as the VMG. Your computer should have an IP address from 192.168.1.2 to 192.168.1.254.
2. If the VMG does not automatically re-direct you to the login screen, go to http://192.168.1.1
3. A login screen displays. Select a language you prefer.
4. To access the administrative Web Configurator and manage the VMG, type the default username admin and the randomly assigned default password (see the device label) in the login screen and click Login. If you have changed the password, enter your password and click Login.

Quick Wizard Setup
- Click the Go button to proceed to the Time Zone, Basic Internet Access, and Wireless settings. This will take you a few minutes.
- Select the time zone of your location. Click Next.
- The VMG will check the Internet status automatically. Click Next to proceed. You can also click Skip to pass checking of Internet connectivity in the Wizard.
- The VMG is checking the Internet status.
- The VMG has Internet access. Click Next to return to the Status screen.
- If the VMG did not detect a WAN connection, connect a DSL cable for Internet access if you have not connected any.

Firmware upgrade
Firmware upgrades the device by navigating to "Maintenance -> Firmware upgrade".
