Zyxel Router - how access your router via Web GUI

This article will show you how to access your router Web GUI via WiFi or Ethernet Cable. The Web Configurator is an HTML-based management interface that allows easy Zyxel Device setup and management via the Internet browser.

To access the administrative Web Configurator and manage the Zyxel Device, use the default username admin and the randomly assigned default password (see the device label) in the password screen and click Login. If you have changed the password, enter your password and click Login. Also on the label, which is usually located on the back of the device, you can find the name of SSID for connecting to the device by means of a WIFI connection.

Login via WiFi

Connect yourself to the SSID (WiFi name) found on the backside of your router, under WLAN

Note! If you connect yourself via WiFi, pull out any internet cables in your computer: Сlick on the WiFi button found on the bottom right side of your screen and search for the SSID (WiFi name). Then, enter the key found on the backside of your router

  • Once connected, you can go into http://192.168.1.1 (or what's on the back of the router - in my case http://zyxel.box)
  • Log in with the username and password from the backside of your router. (If there is none on the backside of your router, the username is admin and password 1234)

Login via ethernet cable

Insert your ethernet cable into your computer and to LAN1 on your router. Turn off your WiFi by clicking on the WiFi button at the right bottom of the screen and then click on the Wi-Fi buttonю. Wait until your router has booted up as well and the LAN port where your computer is located should light up.

  • Once connected, you can go into http://192.168.1.1 (or what's on the back of the router - in my case http://zyxel.box)
  • Log in with the username and password on the backside of your router. (if there is none on the backside of your router, the username is admin and password 1234)

If there are any problems

Make sure you are on the right network by clicking on the Windows button on your keyboard searching for cmd and Open Command Prompt (cmd) and entering ping 192.168.1.1

Open Command Prompt (cmd) and enter:

If you get a reply, then you are in the same network. If not, then you have to see what IP your computer has. To see what IP you have on your computer, you can type ipconfig in cmd and search for Ethernet (or Ethernet 2) and the IP address:

As you can see here - 172.21.32.1 is not similar to 192.168.1.1, which means I will not be able to reach 192.168.1.1.

  • Set the IP manually on my computer.  Click on Start from Windows and search for the control panel to access it:
  • Go into Network and Internet -> Network and Sharing Center
  • Сlick on Change adapter settings
  • Right-click on the Ethernet 2 (or where it says "Network cable connected") and click on Properties:

  • Click on and mark Internet Protocol Version 4 and then click Properties
  • Then fill in a static IP address 192.168.1.100, subnet mask, Default gateway, and DNS like this
  • Click OK and try to ping 192.168.1.1 again:
